World War 2 Facts
There is a lot of debate as to if the World War 2 was really just an extension of World War 1 and Germany just wanted to save face from that cushing defeat to the German ego.
However, for historical reasons World War 2 actually started August 31, 1939, when Hitler and the Nazis faked a Polish attack on a German radio station in order to justify Germany going in and invading Poland.
With the fake attack on the Gleiwitz transmitter being Hitler's excuse, he officially declared war on Poland on September 1, 1939 and this is what led France and Britain into declaring war with Germany since they had a defensive pact with Poland.
The US never officially declared war on Germany, it was Germany and Italy that declared war on the US after the US declared war on Japan who was the Germans allies.
